Access Statement for The Angel
Introduction
The hotel is situated on the market square in an extremely unique medeivel country town. We have 9 rooms offering doubles, twin or a family room.
The hotel has been welcoming guests since the 15th Century and while we aim to meet the needs of all guests there are some period features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. We look forward to welcoming you to the Angel and making your stay an enjoyable one.
Pre-Arrival
The main train station is Colchester or Ipswich which you would then transfer to either Sudbury or Bury which are about 15 and 25 minutes away by car. Taxis are usually available at the station but we can book one in advance if required
The nearest shop/post office is a 1 minute walk
The nearest town Sudbury is approx 6 miles
The nearest bus stop is about a 5 minute walk away, buses only run hourly and the service stops early in the evening

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guest do not check in till 2pm
Earlier arrival may however be possible by prior arrangement
Parking is on the market square at the front of the building, we also have a private car park with 4 spaces.
We offer assistance with luggage
There are walk ways to the main Reception
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area
The front door has two steps both 5cm high
The door is 72.5cm wide
There is seating provided in the bar area
The bar is immediately in front of you when entering second door where you can ask for reception
The second door has a step down 6cm
Third step down into the restaurant is 6.5cm
The floor surface throughout the reception, bar and restaurant is carpet with a small tiled area as you enter the bar.
The front door is closed at 11pm. If guests are going out for evening and returning late we can arrange a front door key
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
Corridors have a good colour contrast and are well lit
The flooring through the building is carpet.
The covering on stairs and upstairs corridor is carpet
The restaurant and bar and one bedroom are on the ground floor
There are 13 stairs to the landing, followed by 1 stair down to rooms 5 and 6.
The stairs are 17.5cm high and 88cm wide
Stairs have a hand rail
There is a small step from the reception area into the dinning room
There is adequate lighting in the lounge and up the stairs
Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
We do not have a lift
Dog water bowls are available on request
Dogs are welcome in the building except the restaurant
The lounge on the first floor has a table with chairs and a sofa.
Dogs can be walked at the front of the building, in the garden and around the local area
Public WCs
All rooms are en-suite
There is one set of public toilets near reception.
If you need baby changing facilities please ask.
The toilet floors are tiled.
There is a hallway for coats.
The toilet doors are (73cm wide) tiled in the toilet, the toilet height is 44cm, and the sink 78cm.
Both toilets having 2 light doors to access.

Guest are welcome to use the lounge anytime

Breakfast is served in the main restaurant
The main course of breakfast is waitress served, cereals and fruit juice are self services but could be served on request
There are chairs with arms and without which can be moved to accommodate.
Menus can be provided in large print on request
The bar is situated on the ground floor the height of the bar is 105cm and the floor is tiled
We are able to cater for dietary needs, please advise member of staff on booking
The restaurant is on the ground floor which is reached through the bar area
The restaurant is table service only
Lighting for evening meals is low level with candles on the tables
All the seating and tables throughout the building are moveable
Any allergies or special dietary requirements can be catered for in advance
High chairs are available
Shop
Non-available in Hotel, but please ask us for anything you may have forgotten to bring i.e. toothpaste etc.

All rooms are en suite with shower or a bath, wc, and hand basin
Room 7 is a ground floor room which you access from the outside of the building.
The rest of the rooms are on the first floor.
There are 13 stairs up to the landing, then a fire door either way.
Room 4 you have to go down one stair

Room 7 has two steps to access it 6cm and 12cm
Rooms 5-6 have one fire door
Height of beds 63.5cm width of bed 184cm as a double, 90cm if twinned

We also provide hairdryers in all rooms.
There is a folder in each room bedroom which contains further information

No smoking rooms
There is a wardrobe, bed side tables, chest of drawers and a dressing table in all rooms.
Rooms are serviced on a daily basis.
Dogs are welcome in some rooms.

At the front of the building we have 5 bench tables
At the back of the building we have 3 bench tables
To access the back garden you go through the car park or reception.
It is concrete at the back of the building in the car park.
You can also access the back garden around the outside of the building.

Dogs and children are welcome
You are welcome to store any medication or special dietary foods in the fridge in the kitchen as long as it is labeled clearly
Mobile phone reception is poor in this area but all rooms do have phones
